Qualifications
Education & Experience
- 3 years experience on staff in a ministry context
- MDiv, ThM ideal but not required
Competencies
- Personal diciple-maker
- Proven track record of effective leadership
- Persuasive and engaging communicator (written and oral)
- Problem-solving skills
- Proficient in use of social media
- Capable of basic graphic design/website development
General Qualifications
- Meeting the 1 Tim. 3, Titus 1, and 1 Pet. 5 qualifications for church leaders
- Exhibits a personal and growing relationship with God, a teachable spirit, and a healthy family life
- Pastoral philosophy of equipping and discipling
- Commitment to teach approach to ministry including delegating responsibility to team members
- Teacher with a love of God's word
- Relational styler of leadership and ministry
- Joyful spirit and good sense of humor
- Capable of creating and executing a long-term vision for music & student ministries
- Seek to intergrate student ministry into all phases of church life to create a culture that is intentionally intergenerational, striving to unite with and complement other church ministries
- Understanding and desire to live in rural East Town of approximately 3,000 people
Specific Qualifications
- Recruit, disciple, and sustain a team of volunteer leaders for both music and students
- Engage student's parents as vital partners
- Teach and equip students and leaders in small and large settings
- Communicate well with parents and come along side families, especially in times of crisis
- Communicate well with church leaders and members
- Relate to the unique needs of teenagers in today's culture
- Ability to lead singing and play guitar at minimum but other instruments a bonus
- Plan worship service including song selection and schedule musicians/singers as needed
- Appreciation and williingness to use both hymns and modern songs
- Understanding of audio & visual equipment
- Ability to recruit and train other people to help with music
Responsibilities
- Ensure that the music and student ministry is functionion in an effective, focused manner
- Recruit, train, and mobilize a ministry team for the music and student ministries
- Follow through with the volunteer screening process to ensure a competent and qualified body of volunteer adults
- Submit an annual budget to the Finance Team and Senior Pastor
- Oversee the expenditures of the budget allocated towards the music and student ministries
- Oversee fund-raising efforts for student ministry trips
- Build relationships with faculty and staff at the middle/high school
- Act as a direct report for the preschool and children's ministry staff, ensuring a cohesive discipleship strategy with smoth transition
- Develop comprehensive, well-balanced biblical instruction
- Assume the role as primary teacher and provide teaching opportunities to other qualified volunteers
- Create and oversee a student leadership group
- Develop other singers and musicians to build the music team
- Participate in staff meetings
- Lead annual or bi-annual student mission trips and/or summer camps
- Attend as often as possible student events at school (ie., sports games, music competitions, FFA, etc.)
- Keep Senior Pastor informed of potential situations of concern
- Always learning and growing through books, articles, podcasts, and conferences
- Sunday morning platform participation
- General responsibilities as assigned by Senior Pastor
