Job Description: Associate Pastor of Worship and Discipleship

The purpose of the position of Associate Pastor of Worship and Discipleship is to assist Mt. Vernon Christian Church in fulfilling its goal of helping people grow deeper in their walks with the Lord and to reach farther in the community and around the world. This individual will work alongside the Senior Pastor in worship ministry and discipleship ministry, providing spiritual leadership, encouragement and resources.

Education: Required at minimum a Bachelor's degree from a Christian College

Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities:

• Support the Senior Pastor in the overall leadership of the church ministries.
• Direct leadership and oversight of the worship ministry at Mt. Vernon.
• Weekly choosing songs.
• Lead in organizing and overseeing Sunday mornings as well as different events and services outside of that.
• Serve as the 'point person' for anything in the area of worship ministry.
• Train and recruit new volunteers to participate in worship leading.
• Direct oversight of the small group ministry, including recruiting and training new leaders and building the program. This individual must lead a small group as well.
• Oversee MVCC's outreach programs and events (Egg Hunt, Concerts, etc.), including developing new ideas for different family events and implementing them.

Secondary Responsibilities:

• Assisting in Pastoral Responsibilities as deemed appropriate by the Senior Pastor, which may include preaching or other teaching opportunities, visitation/hospital visits, assisting with weddings and funerals.
• Attend all staff meetings/congregational meetings or other meetings deemed necessary by the Senior Pastor or Elder board.

Spiritual Expectations:

• Align with the Theology, Vision, and Mission of MVCC (found on our website).
• Meets the Biblical qualifications found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.

Reports To: Senior Pastor. This individual will provide the Senior Pastor monthly reports and undergo one performance review annually.

Time: Hours per Week Expected: 45 hours (includes all church-related activity). Evening hours will be required. This is a Full-Time position.

Salary: $55,000 - $60,000

Benefits: Health Care Assistance, Vacation Time, Federal Holidays Off, Mileage and Cell phone reimbursement, Retirement benefits. Salary and benefits will be discussed in detail as the candidate progresses through the process.
