The Standard Group, a premier print management and marketing logistics company, is seeking a Desktop Operator to help grow our team in our Print and Technology Center in Lititz, PA. The primary purpose of the position is to prepare customer supplied electronic files for output using software on the Macintosh and Windows OS platforms. Maintain equipment within the department. This position could possibly be a rotating 1st and 2nd shift.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and understand the job ticket as well as all notes and instructions (customer notes, digital paperwork, etc.).
  • Check document size and margins.
  • Check document colors (process or spot). Fix any unused or extra colors in the document.
  • Check and extend bleed allowances as necessary.
  • Verify that fonts are working properly/troubleshoot when necessary.
  • Verify that graphics and images process correctly/troubleshoot when necessary.
  • Make necessary adjustments in order for the document to refine/RIP correctly.
  • Save pages as PDF or Encapsulated PostScript for the intended workflow.
  • Process files through Prinergy or Rampage. Adjust trap as needed.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of files that error throughout the workflow.
  • Properly accounts for materials received, and materials and time worked to appropriate jobs using the Shop Floor Data Entry system. Documents additional job information when required.
  • Performs any other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the manager. These duties are nonessential and marginal functions of the position.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Fluent in the Adobe Desktop Publishing Suite.
  • RGB and CMYK color correction skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in variable data software and printing requirements.
  • High school diploma/GED or two to four years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to operate lift and material handling equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and details simultaneously. Requires self-direction, tact, diplomacy and a clear, courteous and professional manner when dealing with internal and external customers.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows OS, MS Office.
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities on multiple projects while maintaining quality of work.
  • Demonstrated ability to calculate and compute numbers; analyze and solve problems on a daily basis

Mental and Physical Requirements:

The Desktop Manager must be able to perform the following job related functions: hear and speak effectively in order to communicate with customers, employees, vendors, and carriers; read both handwritten and typed notes and computer screens; write and type documents and messages; evaluate own work; adapt to changes in customer's specifications and standard operating procedures; handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize them; work under conditions caused by deadlines; bend, stretch, reach, and kneel to perform duties of the position; and lift and move at least 50 pounds. Must also be able to satisfy the Knowledge and Skills requirements and fulfill the responsibilities of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation (as defined in the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990).
