GEOSPATIAL PRACTICE

We are a national leader in implementing straightforward approaches to development and deployment of scalable enterprise Geospatial Information Technology (GIT) solutions. Michael Baker International has differentiated itself and expanded its capabilities by using the latest technologies. For example, we use aerial, static and mobile Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) systems that accurately determine range, elevation, and other critical mapping data. With hundreds of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), survey, mapping and IT professionals in our Geospatial Practice across North America, Michael Baker International possesses in-house experience and resources to support all elements of your program needs, including needs analysis, digitizing/data conversion, customized mapping applications, and systems documentation, implementation, and training.

DESCRIPTION

Our National Geospatial Practice employs over 75 geographic information systems (GIS) professionals who work closely with internal and external stakeholders to provide solutions that enhance, visualize and streamline projects and overcome challenges. Our practice is committed to staying abreast of the latest technologies and providing funding for research and development to ensure Michael Baker is on the cutting edge of GIS technology. For over four decades, Michael Baker’s geospatial team has been delivering GIS services to clients in the federal, private and public sectors across a wide range of industries. The majority of our 1,200+ GIS-pure projects primarily serve municipal and federal clients, including state and local governments, as well as clients in the aviation, port, and transportation sectors. As subject matter experts, we provide innovative GIS solutions using our comprehensive management approach to geospatial projects. This provides a breadth of services from strategic planning and needs assessment services to tactical implementation. Our leadership in implementing and integrating complex enterprise-level GIS solutions and commitment to delivering best-in-class solutions enables clients to meet their geospatial business needs. Work directly with the Geospatial Project Managers and Technical Managers and assist in various aspects on numerous GIS projects. Self-starter and able to manage multiple tasks concurrently, and delegate tasks on the project to employees best positioned to complete them and monitor their progress. Discuss GIS solutions with clients and translate the scope of work and level of effort into documentation and proposals. Provide feedback and recommendations from clients to the team to continually advance and progress our practice. Perform quality control procedures on deliverables. Perform complex analysis to support project objectives. Provide technical guidance to client or other project personnel. Prepare and present technical and program information to team members, management, and clients. Assist with proposal development and new work added research.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, GIS, Natural Sciences, Planning, Computer Science or related field. 8+ years of experience with geographic concepts and GIS software. GISP certification preferred, but not required. Experience in creating and configuring web apps and web pages with ArcGIS Experience Builder. Possess a proficient understanding and a willingness to train on many aspects of GIS and Esri ArcGIS technology. Proven experience with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Dashboards. Experience in implementing and/or maintaining ArcGIS Enterprise preferred, but not required. Experience having successfully served as a GIS task lead with minimal oversight, and a proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks while meeting deadlines. Other essential skills include creative problem-solving, organizational skills, and a solid understanding of GIS projects, processes, and execution. The ability to work both independently and collaboratively with teams across the nation is essential. Self-motivated to stay informed on geospatial technology advancements and desire to learn cross discipline skill sets. Technical writing experience and interest is a plus to assist us in developing content for proposals and marketing material. Strong written and verbal communications skills are essential – able to verbally present GIS practices, concepts, and custom software to clients and potential clients. Proven work history, strong work ethic, responsiveness, accountability, and a team-player attitude are a must. May be remote, hybrid, or in the office, depending on location. Must have high speed internet and suitable workspace to work remotely.

COMPENSATION

The approximate compensation range for this position is $85,612.80 - $134,846.40 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
