As the Health & Safety Supervisor working at Field Aviation, your mission is clear: safeguarding lives, one protocol at a time.

As the company’s site health and safety expert, you will lead and embed our health, safety & environmental agenda. This role supports the effective management of our corporate health, safety & environmental program, employee education, and H&S policy and procedure implementation.

The HS specialist position is an interactive on the ‘shop floor’ role encompassing daily walkarounds, employee interaction & engagement, problem solving, monitoring/checking and general employee wellness. As an engaged team player, you work collaboratively with our Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and other department stakeholders to drive safety awareness within your span of influence and possess the ability to juggle multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for developing and implementing all aspects of safety and emergency response policies and procedures;
  • Identify safety hazards, carry out risk management analyses and develop hazard reduction plans to minimize risk;
  • Monitor and evaluate the results of corrective action with respect to the safety program;
  • Maintain the safety occurrence reporting system to ensure all safety incidents and accidents are investigated properly and timely and provide guidance to ensure compliance with regulatory obligations;
  • Investigate, analyze and identify the root cause of incidents and accidents identified under the health and safety system, by the workplace health and safety committee or reported by any person and provide recommendations as required to Management;
  • Maintain a safety data system to identify trends and reduce risks and create awareness programs as required;
  • Identify and monitor all safety issues related to the building and communicate and determine resolutions with the landlord;
  • Develop adequate health and safety training;
  • Review and update company emergency response procedures, workplace health and safety policies and procedures manuals;
  • Prepare safety reports as required by Field aviation management or regulatory authority;
  • Liaise with Toronto Pearson International Airport and Airport Fire and Emergency Services to maintain facility compliance of airport emergency response and fire prevention as required;
  • Provide guidance and support to the workplace health and safety committee(s);
  • WSIB and WCB administration;
  • Responsible for all aspects of the Return to Work program and workplace accommodation within all locations at Field Aviation including working with and communicating to employees, supervisors, managers and the Compensation Board(s).

Skills and Experiences:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Occupational Health and Safety promoting safety practices and culture in aviation, transportation, oil and gas or other industrial familiarity with the Canada Labour Code Part II and the Canadian Health and Safety Regulations
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Workers’ Compensation Programs (WSIB & WCB)

Education: Certificate in Health and Safety or equivalent accreditation in related discipline

The employee may occasionally lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
