Job Description

Rapid Liquid Print (RLP)is revolutionizing elastomer product manufacturing with our patented embedded gel 3D printing technology, developed at MIT. Our system enables rapid, large-scale, high-resolution prints using elastomers, creating novel solutions across industries—from medical to marine. We combine advanced hardware, materials, and software to deliver a full-stack platform for on-demand production and prototyping.

We are at the frontier of digital manufacturing, and we’re seeking team members who want to help shape the future of how products are made.

Job Description:

We’re seeking a Human Factors UI Engineer to design and implement intuitive, user-centered interfaces for our 3D printing system. This hybrid role blends cognitive science, ergonomics, and front-end development. You’ll lead user research and task analysis efforts while working closely with engineers and designers to bring usable interfaces to life on our hardware and digital platforms.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of research and implementation—and wants to make complex systems feel simple.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Conduct field research, usability testing, and task analysis to understand real-world user workflows (across hardware, software, and materials handling)
  • Translate user needs into interface designs, workflow recommendations, and interaction models
  • Stay current with emerging tools and trends in computational design, digital fabrication, and automation.
  • Collaborate with software and product teams to implement front-end interfaces (web or embedded)
  • Guide user interface decisions with insights from ergonomics, cognitive psychology, and safety engineering
  • Create prototypes, wireframes, and documentation that align with human-centered best practices
  • Identify and address human error risks and reduce training complexity across the product experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of experience in UI engineering, human factors, or HCI roles
  • Proficiency in front-end development
  • Strong background in human-centered design, ergonomics, or usability research
  • Familiarity with parametric design workflows using tools like Grasshopper and Rhino
  • Experience working with physical systems, CAD or 3D modeling software, or complex technical workflows
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and safety-critical design considerations
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across hardware and software teams
  • Familiarity with 3D printing, CNC workflows, or materials handling interfaces

Benefits Overview:

  • 12 weeks paid parental leave
  • Stock options
  • No set limit to vacation days
  • 401(k)plan

If you’re passionate about emerging technologies and want to help manufacturers create the next generation of products, we’d love to meet you.
