Job Description

Aterra Designs is seeking a Lighting Designer to join our growing business in Denton, Texas. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on in the design process, thrives in a client-facing environment, and is looking for long-term growth in a creative, fast-moving company.

You'll work on-site with a regional builder and their homebuyers to design lighting, electrical, and low voltage layouts based on construction blueprints. As we expand our footprint in the Texas market, this role offers the potential for additional projects and increased design opportunities.

  • Collaborate with builder partners and their internal teams to ensure design alignment
  • Prepare accurate documentation, schedules, and final client sign-offs
  • Track revisions and updates throughout the project lifecycle
  • Maintain design standards and stay up to date on lighting and technology trends
  • Represent Aterra Designs professionally in all interactions with clients and builder teams

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in residential lighting, interior design, or electrical drafting
  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or Industrial Design preferred
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with residential building plans and electrical design standards
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple projects
  • Comfortable working independently in an on-site environment
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code is a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
