Microbiology Lab Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Microbiology Lab Technician to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will perform basic laboratory preparation work and contribute to a variety of microbiological tests. This role offers the opportunity to grow within a state-of-the-art Innovation Center.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic laboratory preparation work including making solutions of peptone and buffers for swabs.
• Engage in plating and streaking techniques.
• Pick up supplies and samples from the plant as needed.
• Conduct various tests such as pipetting, preparing agar with hot plates, autoclaving, sterilization, sanitation, and conducting plate counts for yeast, mold, and lactic bacteria.
• Enter data accurately into Excel.

Essential Skills

• BA/BS in Microbiology, Biology or related science field.
• Understanding of aseptic techniques and plating and streaking techniques.
• Experience in a laboratory setting with skills in pH and viscosity measurement.
• Must have strong microbiology skills from schooling or some industry experience.

Work Environment

The position is based in the micro lab, which is a small lab with few desk spaces. The candidate will work in a team of three, assisting with various tasks as needed. The dress code is business casual and the work schedule is 1st shift, Monday to Friday. This is a shorter-term contract position with a small chance of extension or conversion into a longer-term opportunity. The work environment is a beautiful, state-of-the-art Innovation Center that offers long-term growth opportunities. Based in Columbus, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr.
