PC Redistribution TechnicianJob Summary

The PC Redistribution Technician on our Field Services team reports directly to the Field Services Supervisor and is primarily responsible for facilitating Media Sanitization/Destruction and PC Redistribution functions. Secondary responsibilities include diagnosing and resolving problems with computer hardware/software and peripherals at the desktop/laptop level. This role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to security policies, and the ability to provide professional and courteous customer service in a fast-paced environment.

This position is based onsite at the Idaho National Laboratory's desert location (not in town). Shuttle bus transportation is available for employees commuting to the site.
Responsibilities
  • Facilitate Media Sanitization/Destruction and PC Redistribution processes in compliance with client and security requirements.

  • Ensure shop cleanliness, accurate ticket completion, and effective management of physical inventory.

  • Diagnose and prepare devices for redistribution, ensuring they meet standard configurations.

  • Collaborate with Knowledge Coordinators to maintain a comprehensive knowledge base of common solutions.

  • Provide professional and courteous customer service through phone, MS Outlook, MS Teams, and in-person communication.

  • Partner with client teams to ensure asset tracking and updates are completed accurately.

  • Independently prioritize tasks and work efficiently with minimal supervision.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the PC Redistribution program.

  • Follow all processes, security policies, and procedures as instructed by management and client requirements.

  • Provide secondary support for break-fix, installation, and troubleshooting of desktops, laptops, and peripherals as directed.

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 3 years of technical support experience.

  • Strong customer service, hardware troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and related products.

  • Ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage multiple priorities.

  • U.S. Citizenship required.

  • Ability to lift 40 pounds and perform essential physical functions as outlined below.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of technical support experience.

  • Associate's degree or higher in IT or related field.

  • CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, and/or ITIL IV certifications.

  • Tier 1 Apple repair certification.

Physical, mental and emotional stamina to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position; manual dexterity sufficient to write, use telephone, business machines (including computers and printers); vision sufficient to read printed and online materials including knowledge base articles (KBA's), work reference materials, troubleshooting guides; hearing sufficient to conduct in person and telephone conversations; speaking ability in an understandable voice with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversational distance, on the telephone; emotional ability to work respectfully and professionally with teammates and customers in fast-paced and at times stressful situations; physical agility to push/pull, squat, twist, turn, bend, stoop, and reach overhead; physical mobility sufficient to move about the work environment (office, district) and drive an automobile; physical strength sufficient to lift 40 pounds; physical stamina sufficient to sit for prolonged periods of time; physical tolerance to be exposed to air conditioned space; mental acuity to collect and interpret data, define and solve common problems. Regular and consistent attendance is required.
