Your Impact As Senior Chemist, you'll lead formulation development for high-performance industrial coatings while ensuring compliance with environmental standards. This hands-on, lab-based role offers the perfect blend of technical depth and cross-functional collaboration, with opportunities to interface directly with customers and guide products from concept to market launch.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead design and optimization of corrosion-control coatings including epoxies, urethanes, alkyds, and acrylics to meet specific performance requirements
• Conduct comprehensive application testing including corrosion resistance, UV exposure, and humidity testing using accelerated weathering protocols
• Ensure full compliance with VOC, HAP, and environmental regulations while maintaining product performance standards
• Collaborate with Quality, Operations, and Commercial teams to successfully bring innovative products to market through structured stage-gate processes
• Support production operations by troubleshooting off-spec batches and providing technical expertise on the manufacturing floor
• Maintain detailed digital records of formulations, test results, and project progress using modern data management systems
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and presentations for internal stakeholders and external customers
• Participate in customer-facing activities including product demonstrations, line trials, and technical support visits

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related physical science
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on industrial coating formulation experience
• Strong understanding of coating chemistry, application processes, and testing methodologies
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for data analysis and reporting
• Commitment to safety protocols and environmental procedures

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of formulation experience in industrial coatings
• Experience with colorimetry, rheology, and polymer chemistry
• Familiarity with DOE, Lean Six Sigma methodologies, and stage-gate processes
• Knowledge of statistical software (JMP, Minitab) and programming languages
