Title : Lead Welder / Fabricator
Direct Hire-Full Time in Annapolis Junction, MD 20701
As the Lead Fabricator/Welder, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and executing high-quality metal fabrication, sheet metal assemblies and welding projects. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all work is performed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of welding and fabricating processes, excellent communication skills, and a proven history of success in welding and fabricating within manufacturing or a similar industry. You will be the point of contact for technical guidance, troubleshooting, and team leadership, ensuring that our fabrication and welding operations run smoothly and meet all project specifications and deadlines.

Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of fabricators and welders, providing guidance and support.
- Interpret and work from blueprints, sketches, and engineering drawings.
- Perform welding and fabrication tasks, including MIG, TIG, and Stick welding.
- Ensure all welding and fabrication work meets or exceeds company quality standards.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Work under minimum amount of supervision
- Assign and prioritize workload in fabrication shop
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely project completion.
- Train and mentor junior fabricators/welders.
- Conduct regular inspections and quality checks on completed work.
- Troubleshoot and resolve fabrication and welding issues as they arise.
- Manage/purchase inventory of welding supplies and materials.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
Required Skills & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in welding or fabrication preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in welding and fabrication, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Proficient in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding techniques.
- Must be able to weld and fabricate various types of metal including steel, stainless steel and aluminum.
- Mechanical experience working with metal performing fabrication processes to include welding, cutting, bending, forming, shaping, fitting, and assembling metal articles
- Strong understanding of metal fabrication (including using drills, grinders, sanders and other hand an power tools)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering drawings.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulations in the welding and fabrication industry.
- Initiative-taking and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.

- Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Prolonged periods of standing, bending and moving
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
