Dr. Daisy Gonzales

Deputy Chancellor of California Community Colleges

Dr. Daisy Gonzales is the first Latina to serve as Deputy Chancellor of the California Community College Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO). As Deputy Chancellor, she is responsible for overseeing the largest system of public higher education in the nation composed of 115 colleges and 73 districts. She coordinates the divisions of Academic Affairs; Student Services and Special Programs; Economic Development and Workforce Preparation; and the Institutional Effectiveness Partnership Initiative (IEPI). Her primary duties include directing the progress towards the Vision for Success—the system's strategic plan to close student equity gaps over the next five to ten years.

She holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Sociology from the University of California Santa Barbara and a B.A. in Public Policy from Mills College. In 2018, she was awarded the Medal of Courage in Education by the Lucille and Edward R. Roybal Foundation and in 2019 was named as one of forty national Aspen Presidential Fellows.
