Are you an attorney with a passion for the energy sector and regulatory compliance? Our client, a leader in the energy industry, is seeking a Regulatory Counsel to join their team. This opportunity allows you to collaborate with corporate and field operations teams, ensuring compliance with federal and state energy regulations. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s regulatory strategies and fostering relationships that drive compliance excellence within the dynamic energy industry.

Responsibilities: • Provide efficient compliance advice on time-sensitive projects and regulatory matters. • Foster compliance with U.S. laws and regulations affecting power generation and energy operations. • Collaborate with business counterparts and aligned entities to coordinate policy initiatives. • Develop expertise in FERC and state commission matters, offering strategic recommendations on regulatory proceedings. • Monitor and advise on regulatory and industry developments in energy, power generation, and environmental matters. • Build and maintain relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure compliance and policy alignment.

Must-Have Skills: • 5-7 years of experience in regulatory law, including FERC or state commission experience. • Strong analytical and technical skills in administrative and regulatory law functions. • Juris Doctor (JD) degree required. • Experience with PJM regulatory issues related to an electric-based company. • Proven legal research and memo-writing skills. • Ability to travel up to 10%.

Nice-to-Have Skills: • Strong communication skills to establish relationships, build trust, and influence others. • Proven ability to produce results and demonstrate mature decision-making judgment. • Experience working effectively in a complex, fast-paced environment. • Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. • Familiarity with evolving trends in energy statutes, regulations, and public policy.
