Traffic Safety Program Manager Opportunity

What Youll Do
The Traffic Safety Program Manager position is a grant funded position housed at the Florida Department of Transportation. The position reports directly to the Traffic Safety Administrator at the Florida Department of Transportation and is responsible for analyzing, directing, and monitoring highway safety countermeasure activities through traffic safety grant programs. Youll have the chance to:
Day-to-day, youll be responsible for:
- Coordinates and monitors sub-recipients to ensure that program activities are implemented as intended by supporting the Traffic Safety Administrator in managing all sub-grants within assigned program areas funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Analyzes all program activities regularly to ensure that programs are effective and resources are allocated appropriately. Creates a monitoring schedule, conducting a preliminary visit to establish requirements and expectations when needed. Implements an ongoing, systematic monitoring and review of programs onsite and offsite to detect and correct problems quickly. Ensures that required reports have been submitted. Reviews reimbursement claim submissions for accuracy, completeness, as well as compliance with Florida Statutes, Florida Administrative Code, directives, policies, and procedures. Discusses any issues with sub-recipients and correcting as needed. Includes extensive administrative work and in-state travel, with some limited out-of-state travel.
- Plans subgrants by developing, implementing, and facilitating an overall plan for federally funded state and local grant programs and activities. Provides advice and assistance in the decision-making process related to the sections ability to accomplish its goals and objectives. Creates plans based on problem identification that considers research and traffic data to direct state and community resources toward effective countermeasures that address program defined traffic safety issues. Ensures that funding is allocated for specific data driven program needs driven towards self-sufficiency when required. Assists in the development of the annual Highway Safety Plan and Annual Report.
- Provides consultation by assisting sub-recipients, associates, and the general public on matters pertaining to program planning, evaluation, data analysis, and data development in assigned program areas. Serves as a resource to sub-recipients. Represents and/or facilitates committees, coalitions, and task groups on behalf of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). Establishes and maintains records/data by using the offices tracking systems in a manner that is accurate, timely, reliable, and accessible; makes data available to all partners, either internal or external.
- Evaluates sub-grants by measuring sub-grants for progress in achieving established goals and objectives. Ensures appropriate data is being collected for evaluation. Performs a final review of sub-grants to verify satisfactory progress has been made and uses evaluation results to report regularly to management and to guide further program activities. Represents FDOT in a positive way, facilitates state and local task forces as well as other traffic safety initiatives that are funded under the defined program area.

- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university level and field of study.
- Professional or paraprofessional experience with grants, contracts, or program management can substitute on a year for year experience for the degree. years or type of experience.
- Applicant must have a valid Driver License. or traits like leadership, communication, teamwork, etc.
